Together, MTN Ghana and Standard Chartered accounted for almost 34.00% of total value traded, highlighting the continued concentration of liquidity in a relatively small number of large-cap counters.
Enterprise Group followed with GH¢621,021.55 in turnover from 91,471 shares, but the insurer recorded the steepest decline on the main market. Its share price fell from GH¢7.41 to GH¢6.75, representing a 8.91% loss.

Consumer and industrial counters also showed divergent movements. Unilever and Benso Oil Palm advanced, while Kasapreko and TotalEnergies declined. Guinness Ghana Breweries held at GH¢10.70 after its sharp drop in the previous trading session, with 21,077 shares valued at GH¢225,523.90 changing hands.

Activity on the Ghana Alternative Market accounted for 20.63% of overall market volume but only 3.31% of total value traded, reflecting the lower prices of GAX-listed securities.
Intravenous Infusions dominated GAX activity with 187,346 shares worth GH¢150,087.37, although its price remained unchanged at GH¢0.75. Hords also closed flat at GH¢0.88 after 67,864 shares changed hands.
Digicut Production & Advertising was the sole GAX gainer, rising 10.00% from GH¢0.20 to GH¢0.22 on 8,555 shares. Samba Foods and Meridian Marshalls recorded no trades.
Overall market breadth was positive, with nine counters advancing across the main market and GAX against five decliners, while most listed securities remained unchanged.
Wednesday’s session reflected a somewhat broader distribution of price gains than the previous day, led by Dannex, Societe Generale and Digicut, but turnover remained concentrated in a handful of highly liquid stocks.
MTN Ghana’s return to GH¢7.00 provided support to the market, while Standard Chartered’s GH¢1.00 million turnover demonstrated how relatively small volumes in high-priced equities can materially influence daily traded value.
The broader liquidity picture nevertheless remains uneven. Ordinary shares accounted for more than 96.00% of market value, while a small group of counters generated the bulk of turnover.
For the market, the next test will be whether improving price breadth can translate into stronger and more widely distributed liquidity rather than continued dependence on a few dominant equities.
