Division One League club Inter Allies demoted to Division Two for match manipulation
Inter Allies Football Club has been demoted to the Division Two League after being found guilty of match manipulation.
The decision was announced by the Ghana FA’s Disciplinary Committee on Monday after the finalisation of investigation into last season’s clash between AshGold and Inter Allies at the Len Clay Stadium.
The match in question ended 7-0 in favour of AshGold with Inter Allies defender, Hashmin Musah scoring two own goals in the process of which he later admitted in a radio interview that his own goals were scored deliberately to make useless a 5-1 bet that were rumored to have been placed on the match.
Musah been banned for 6-months, in the case for throwing light on the incident and was also warned to inform the GFA’s Integrity Hotline in future if he has wind of such unscrupulous arrangements.
The GFA announced that the club was charged on two counts and it would be sent to Division Two at the end of the current Division One season.
They dropped into the division after being relegated from the Ghana Premier League last season.
Their head coach, Felix Aboagye and team manager, Reuben Adjetey have also been banned for 24 months from all football-related activities.
Four players were handed 24-month bans as part of the sanctions from the GFA including Asante Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey who has been given a 30-month ban from football because he played for Inter Allies as of the time of the said incident.
