Division One League: Yahaya Mohammed bags hatrick; New Edubiase hold Samartex as first round comes to an end
Zone One leading scorer Mohammed Yahaya made the headlines yet again as he scored a hat-trick for Tamale City FC in a 6-0 thumping of Bolga All Stars. The youngster has put up a brilliant campaign thus far to catapult his side to the top spot in the Zone One League table.
Saturday’s hat-trick takes Yahaya’s goal tally to 13 from 15 matches – making him the most prolific striker across the three Zones in the on-going League.
The race for Premier League slot was heightened this weekend when leaders Nsoatreman FC were held by Unity FC in a 1-1 draw. The result leaves the Nsoatre side in second place with 33 points after drawing their second successive match in the League.
Abu Enock scored at the Sunyani Coronation Park to give Tano Bofoakwa a 1-0 win against Young Apostles.
Another pick of the pack was witnessed at the Twumasi Sports complex where Berekum Arsenal drew 1-1 with Brong Ahafo United on Sunday.
Wisdom Attamah netted for Arsenal as Evans Appiah scored for B.A United to wrap up the first round of the season.

Sekondi Hasaacas, Nzema Kotoko and Ebusua Dwarfs ended the first round of the season in a vintage manner as they recorded victories against Wassaman, Bekwai Youth Football Academy and Swedru All Blacks on match day 15 of the Division One League.

Leaders Samartex were held 0-0 by New Edubiase United at the Nana Gyamfi Park at Bekwai.
Samartex 1996 have been near perfect in the season following a stupendous display that has led to 10 wins, 1 loss and 4 draws from 15 matches – taking them to the summit of Zone Two with 34 points – 3 points ahead of New Edubiase United who are second.
The only defeat for Samatex was against Sekondi Hasaacas on Match Day 13 as they lost 1-0 at the Gyandu Park – bringing to an end a 12 match unbeaten run. The League leaders however recovered from that setback on Match Day 14 to beat Future Stars 1-0 at home.
Nzema Kotoko – picked all points against BYFA in a 1-0 win at Aiyinase – as Ebenezer Amoah scored the only goal of the match.
Ebusua Dwarfs beat Wassaman 2-1at the Robert Mensah stadium. Robert Ato Hammond scored in the 5th minute for Ebusua Dwarfs but the lead was cancelled in the 29th minute by Joseph Aggrey. Back from recess, the game was even until the home side won a penalty in the 65th minute through Simon Martey. The Cape Coast giants have now moved to third with 30 points – four behind leaders Samartex 1996.
Elsewhere in Sekondi, Hasaacas defeated Swedru All Blacks 2-0 at the Gyandu Park. Patrick Odoom and Kwabena Baidoo scored in either half as the Doo Boys walked home with all the spoils. Sekondi Hasaacas have moved to the 12th spot with 16 points

Akyem Oda Kotoku Royals beat Tema Youth 2-0 to end the first round of the Division One League on a high. The match day 15 fixture which was played at the Oda Park – pit together the two top teams in the League against each other. But it was the Oda side that prevailed in the end after scoring two first half goals to win the tie.
Desmond Awuah scored the first goal for the home side inside 25 seconds and added the 2nd goal in the 9th minute with an effort that came off a Tema Youth defender before going into the back of the net.
The result takes Kotoku Royals to the top of the Zone Three table with 30 points – one point ahead of Tema Youth and Liberty Professionals.
Liberty Professionals also ended the first half of the season on a positive note as they beat Susubiribi 1-0 at the Carl Reindorff Park. Daniel Antwi scored from the spot in the 27th minute to give his side a perfect end to the first round.
In Kpando – Heart of Lions humbled their Regional rivals Akatsi All Stars 3-0 in the Volta derby on Sunday. Abdul Mohammed Musah opened the scoring for the home side in the first half.
Kwesi Pong doubled the lead 10 minutes after the break before Christian Agyei put the nail in the coffin as he netted in the 83rd minute to complete the rout. The home win takes Heart of Lions to the 4th spot with 27 points – three points behind Oda Kotoku Royals who lead with 30 points.
