President Akufo-Addo has finally addressed what seemed to be an attack on former Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelevo, by the presidency.
Government has for weeks now, come under harsh criticisms for the way and manner in which it ousted Mr Domelevo out office as the Auditor-General instructing that Mr Domelevo proceed on retirement the very day he resumed work from an eight-month long leave which was also instructed by the presidency.
In a 21 page letter to the Civil Society Organizations Against Corruption, President Akufo-Addo stated that public allegations that the presidency targeted Mr Domelevo and wanted him out of office at all cost are unfounded and based on untruths.
Addressing the issue which has gained national attention, the president opined that Mr Domelevo who was appointed Auditor-General in the stead of Dr Felix Kwame Aveh, on the eve of the exit of former President John Mahama from the presidency, was appointed the Auditor-General “with the sole aim of saddling” him as the president-elect of the Republic.
The president in the letter further described Mr Domelevo as an “Auditor-General whose allegiance was to former President John Mahama, instead of the nation,” given the strange circumstances in which he was appointed to the high office.
