The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in a joint investigation with the Medical and Dental Council (MDC), have uncovered operations of a ‘baby harvesting’ and baby trafficking syndicate in the Accra Metropolis.
This is according to a joint press release by EOCO and MDC.
The busted syndicate involve 11 individuals made up of two medical doctors, four nurses, two social workers, two mothers and a traditional birth attendant.
EOCO and MDC notes in the joint statement that two new born baby boys were purchased from the syndicate for a total amount of Ghs 58,000.
