ETI, FML, PBC and Access Bank record average share price loss of 18.5%

ETI, FML, PBC and Access Bank post average share price loss of 18.5%

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) ended last week with a total market capitalisation of GHS 64.1 billion.

This is after the market value of the GSE fell by GHS 403 million following the decline in share prices of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), Access Bank, FanMilk Plc and Produce Buying Company (PBC) Ltd.

Together, the four equities recorded an average of loss 18.5% in their share price.

Stocks of ETI posted a 7.14% decline in its share price ending last Friday’s trading session with a closing price of GHS 0.13 from an opening price of GHS 0.14.

For Access and FML, the two stocks recorded 9.52% and 24.05% decline in stock prices resulting in closing prices of GHS 2.85 and GHS 3.00 from their opening prices of GHS 3.15 and GHS 3.95 respectively.

With regards to PBC, the company recorded a 33.33% loss in share price ending the week with a closing price of GHS 0.02 from an opening price of GHS 0.03.

On the back of the price declines, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) at the close of the  week shed 22.72 points to close at 2,766.80 translating into a YTD  return of -0.81%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also lost  22.10 points to close the week at 2,131.93 translating into a YTD return of -0.93%.

Meanwhile, a total of 5.4 million shares valued at GH¢5.9 million traded during the week compared to 2.4 million shares valued at GH¢3.4 million which traded the previous week. 

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the most trades as it accounted for 74.7% of the total value traded.

Following MTNGH as the most traded stocks on the local bourse were ETI, CAL, PBC and EGL in the second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
