Fanmilk Ghana Limited Champions Menstrual Hygiene with Major Initiative
In an impactful gesture to commemorate this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day, Fanmilk Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the global Danone Group and a leader in the dairy and beverage sector in Ghana, has stepped forward to support over 4,000 menstruating girls. The initiative was conducted in partnership with the NGO Inspire Today, targeting the Mallam cluster of schools within the Weija Gbawe Municipal Education directorate.
Fanmilk Ghana is well-known for its commitment to community engagement, focusing on educational programs, health initiatives, and broader community development projects. This latest endeavor underscores the company’s dedication to improving life in Ghanaian communities, particularly in supporting the health and education of young girls.
During the event, Etornam Sey, the Founder and Executive Director of Inspire Today, lauded Fanmilk Ghana for its unwavering support over the past five years. Sey highlighted the critical role that such corporate support plays in facilitating large-scale initiatives focused on menstrual hygiene. “Their continued assistance is invaluable in helping us ensure that every girl, regardless of her background, has access to the necessary resources to manage her menstruation with dignity,” she said.
Menstrual Hygiene Day, initiated in 2014 by the German NGO WASH United, is celebrated on May 28 each year. It aims to raise awareness and combat the stigma associated with menstruation, promoting good menstrual hygiene practices worldwide.
This year’s theme, “Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld,” champions a world where menstruation is not stigmatized and all individuals have access to the necessary menstrual products and education. Fanmilk Ghana’s participation in this global effort demonstrates their active role in fostering a supportive environment for young women’s health and education across Ghana.
