FIFA WCQ : Ghana vs Nigeria; Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed to officiate first leg of play off
Astute Moroccan referee Redouane Jiyed has been appointed to take charge of affairs in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup play-off tie between Ghana and Nigeria in Cape Coast this month.
The Black Stars of Ghana will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Cape Coast stadium on Friday, March 25, 2022 before heading to Abuja four days later for the return leg.
This will be the second Ghana game Jiyed will be officiating in the World Cup qualifiers as he was in charge when Ghana beat Ethiopia 1-0 in the group qualifications in Cape Coast last year.
Jiyed has the credibility as he officiated the 3rd place play-off game Burkina Faso and Cameroon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde at the 2021 AFCON staged in Cameroon.
His most recent outing was two weeks ago when Mamelodi Sundowns picked their first ever win against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League at the Cairo International Stadium.
