FirstBank Ghana Appoints Rosie Ebe-Arthur as Acting Board Chairperson

FirstBank Ghana Limited has announced the appointment of Ms. Rosie Ebe-Arthur as Acting Board Chairperson, following the resignation of Mr. Kofo Majekodunmi, who served as Board Chairman from 2021 to 2026.

Ms. Ebe-Arthur brings to the role extensive experience in human capital management, organisational leadership, and corporate governance across Africa and the United Kingdom. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK, she has built a distinguished career spanning financial services and professional advisory institutions.

Rosie previously served as Associate Director of People Services, Africa Projects, at Ernst & Young, South Africa, where she implemented human capital strategies and standardised global structures to improve productivity across EY’s footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa. She later moved to Ecobank Transnational Incorporated as Group Human Resources Business Partner for Domestic Bank, working across 33 countries. At Standard Chartered Bank, Rosie rose to become Head of Human Resources, West Africa, with responsibility for Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, The Gambia, and Sierra Leone.

Within the FirstBank Group, Ms. Ebe-Arthur served as Group Head, Human Capital Management and Development, where she played a pivotal role in the Group’s transformation, through shaping talent and leadership development to deliver on the Group’s strategy. As a Non-Executive Director of FirstBank Ghana, Rosie has contributed significantly to the Bank’s strategic direction and governance oversight, positioning her strongly to lead the Board currently.

Rosie holds a Postgraduate degree in Personnel Management from the University of Westminster and a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a Diploma in English. She is an alumna of executive management programmes at INSEAD and Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she enjoys working to uplift women and the youth, gardening and exploring the Future of Work.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Kofo Majekodunmi, under whose chairmanship the Bank experienced notable growth and strategic transformation. During his tenure, FirstBank Ghana strengthened its corporate governance framework, expanded its product offerings, and accelerated digital innovation to enhance customer experience. The Bank recorded significant progress in profitability, operational efficiency, and corporate social responsibility, consolidating its position as a leading financial institution in Ghana while maintaining resilience in a dynamic market environment.
