Former GFA President MND Jawula is dead
Lepowura MND Jawula, a former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), passed away on Friday.
The long-time football administration veteran had reportedly been ill for some time and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre before being flown to the United States for further treatment.
The GFA, in a statement, expressed its sadness at the news and offered condolences to the family of the late sports enthusiast. “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew him,” the association wrote.
Jawula served as GFA Chairman between 1997 and 2001.
He was also the chairman of the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) at the time of his death.
In addition to his role in football administration, Jawula was also the Lepowura of the Kujolobito Gate of Lepo-Kpembe in the Northern Region.
The death of Jawula is a significant loss for the Ghanaian football community, as his contributions to the development of the sport in the country will be remembered.
