President Mahama Appoints Kofi Boakye as Director of Security Operations at Presidency; Prosper Bani as Security Advisor

Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye has been named Director of Security Operations at the Presidency by President John Mahama.

The appointment, part of a broader overhaul of Ghana’s security leadership, underscores the administration’s emphasis on bolstering national security.

In a related move, Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Interior Minister, has been appointed National Security Advisor.

Additional appointments include Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul Osman-Razak as National Security Coordinator and Charles Kipo as Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

“These strategic appointments reflect the President’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Ghanaians,” said Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Presidential Spokesperson, in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
