Fuel prices forecasted to hold steady in April’s initial pricing window

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) has projected a stable outlook for fuel prices across Ghana during the initial pricing window of April.

According to COPEC’s forecasts, the anticipated price for petrol is GH¢13.41 per litre, contingent upon no major fluctuations in global petroleum markets.

Similarly, diesel is expected to maintain its current rate at GH¢13.91 per litre, while LPG is projected to be priced at GH¢14.20 per kilogram.

Despite the short-term stability, COPEC warns of a potential uptick in petrol prices during the second pricing window. Conversely, diesel and LPG prices are anticipated to remain unchanged.

The recent marginal increments in fuel prices have been attributed by the Chamber to the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.

COPEC had previously cautioned that without concerted efforts to bolster the cedi’s stability against foreign currencies, consumers could face escalating fuel costs in the upcoming weeks.
