GCB records 0.20% YTD loss on the local bourse

GCB records 0.20% YTD loss on the local bourse

State-owned bank, GCB Plc, has posted a year-to-date loss of 0.20% on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).

This implies that since the beginning of this year – 2022 – price of the financial stock has declined by 0.20 percent.

Over the week, the equity once again declined in share price ending the week as the sole loser on the stock exchange.

The equity on Friday, begun trading with an opening price of GHS 5.10, however, at the close of trading activity, price of the equity had fallen by 0.01 percent resulting in a closing price of GHS 5.09 for the stock.

Generally, market activity for the week decreased marginally by 0.25 points to  close at 2,690.94 translating into a YTD return of -3.53%.

The GSE  Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) alsodecreasedby 0.46points to close  the week at 2,209.24 translating into a YTD return of 2.67%.

Trading in 19 equities over the week, saw market capitalisation of the stock exchange increased by GH¢42.05 million to close the  trading week at GH¢63.86 billion.

In all, a total of 10.67 million shares valued at GH¢10.72 million was traded during the week compared to 87.63 million shares valued at  GH¢89.23 million which traded the previous week.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the lion’s share of trades per value as it accounted for 94.93% of the total value traded.

Trailing behind Scancom Plc were CAL Bank, PBC, POP and GCB as the second, third, fourth and fifth most traded stocks on the exchange.
