Ghana Airports Company Limited gets new MD
The Board of Directors of the Ghana Airports Company Limited [GACL] has appointed for the company, a new Managing Director in the person of Ms Pamela Djamson-Tettey.
Ms Djamson-Tettey’s appointment follows an emergency meeting by the board on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, after the former MD Yaw Kwakwa, submitted his resignation.
Per a statement issued by GACL, Ms Djamson-Tettey role as the new MD takes effect on February 18, 2022.
Ms Djamson-Tettey per the statement, has 25 years of proven track record in Senior Management including 9 years in the mining industry, 9 years in the manufacturing sector and 5 years in the power sector.

A letter dated 4 February 2022 and signed by Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, the Minister of Transport, said: “His Excellency the President of the Republic, per letter No OPS127/22/104 dated January 2022, has directed that the appointment of Mr Yaw Kwakwa as the managing director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited be terminated.”

The reason for Yaw Kwakwa’s sacking is not yet known.
Reacting to his dismissal, Mr Kwakwa expressed surprise asserting he is unware of the termination of his appointment and is thus awaiting official correspondence from the Presidency.
The news about Mr. Kwakwa’s dismissal broke whilst he was leading Parliament’s Roads and Transport Committee to inspect the McDan Aviation facility at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
“I don’t know what you are talking about. My appointment has not been terminated so if you have any evidence… I don’t know about it,…. but when I get to that bridge I will cross it,” Mr. Kwakwa told the media when asked about his dismissal.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Airports Company Ltd has been in the news recently following a back and forth with McDan Aviation over the launch of the private jet services company and permission to operate at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
