Ghana Premier League top scorer Yaw Annor earns Togo national team call-up
Former AshantiGold SC forward and Ghana Premier League top scorer Yaw Annor has earned a call-up to the Togo national team ahead of this month’s international break.
Annor has been invited by Sparrowhawks head coach Paulo Duarte for their two international friendlies against Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.
Togo will take on Cote d’Ivoire on September 24, 2022 in Paris, France before taking on Equatorial Guinea three days later in Casablanca, Morocco.
The 24-year-old is eligible to represent the West African country through his Mother who is a full Togolese.
Annor was instrumental in the Ghanaian top-flight last season after finishing as the highest scoring player after netting 22 goals in 30 appearances.
He also won the man of the match awards on eight occasions following his impressive goal scoring form.
The highly-rated footballer as headed to Egyptian side Ismaily SC after his enthralling performances where he has a five-year contract worth around US$200,000.
A letter sent by the Togolese Football Federation to Annor’s club Ismaily Sporting Club informing the Egyptian side of the call up has been seen by NorvanReports.
Annor has previously played for Bechem United where he played a crucial role in helping them to win the Ghana FA for the first time in 2016.
He has also had spells at Spanish clubs CF Fuenlabrada and Burgos CF.
Annor becomes the latest Ghana-born to switch international allegiance to Togo after Kennedy Boateng, Emmanuel Hackman and Samuel Asamoah
