Ghana U-15 Boys Set for CAF African Schools Championship Challenge
Ghana’s U-15 boys’ football team faces a tough challenge as they prepare to compete in the CAF African Schools Football Championship, having been drawn into Group A alongside Uganda, South Africa, and Algeria. The tournament will take place from April 23 to 26, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
The official draw, held on April 21, was conducted by Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan and Ivorian coach Clementine Toure, adding a touch of excitement and prestige to the event. As the host nation, Ghana enters the tournament with high hopes, aiming to capitalize on the support of their passionate home crowd.
“This is something that Africa needs. For me, football has to start at the foundation,” Gyan remarked during the draw, emphasizing the tournament’s significance for youth development across the continent.
The tournament, now in its third edition, will feature eight nations competing in both boys’ and girls’ U-15 categories, vying for glory and the chance to leave a lasting mark in African school football history. Ghana’s team is eager to rise to the occasion, but they face formidable opponents in Uganda, South Africa, and Algeria, each bringing unique strengths to the competition.
With the tournament just days away, the Ghanaian boys are determined to showcase their skills and build on their recent successes, having clinched the gold medal at the 2024 Zonal Championship in Togo. Their victory followed a strong performance in the previous year’s edition, where they narrowly missed out on the title.
