Ghana, Zimbabwe Sign 11 MoUs to Deepen Cooperation Across Strategic Sectors

Ghana and Zimbabwe have entered into 11 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding collaboration across several priority sectors.

The agreements were signed during the official visit of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Ghana.

The MoUs cover diverse areas such as political and diplomatic engagement, capacity building and training within foreign service institutions, sports and recreation, healthcare, energy, records and archives management, tourism, as well as trade promotion.

A notable component of the engagements includes a partnership between the Institute of African Knowledge and the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, centred on initiatives related to African liberation history.

Beyond the state-level agreements, an additional deal was concluded within the private sector, formalising cooperation between Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Geo Pomona Waste Management (Pvt) Ltd.

The agreements are expected to drive knowledge transfer, collaborative research, infrastructure enhancement, and stronger economic linkages between the two countries.

They further support Ghana’s broader ambition of positioning itself as a central hub for Pan-African trade and tourism.

List of signed MoUs:

  1. Memorandum of Understanding on Political and Diplomatic Cooperation
  2. MoU on Research, Training and Documentation in Foreign Service Institutions
  3. MoU on Collaboration in Sports and Recreation Development
  4. MoU on Cooperation in the Health Sector
  5. MoU on Cooperation in the Energy Sector
  6. MoU on Archives and Records Management
  7. MoU on Tourism Development
  8. MoU between ZIM-Trade and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA)
  9. MoU between the Institute of African Knowledge and the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board on African liberation initiatives
