Giant oil vessel explodes; sinks off Nigerian coast [Video]
Reports from Nigeria indicates that a giant oil vessel with a storage capacity of 2 million barrels of oil has exploded off the country’s coast.
According to local reports, the Trinity Spirit oil vessel exploded on Thursday morning, February 3, 2022, at the Ukpokiti oil field.
The oil field is located off Nigeria’s coast near the Escravos terminal close to the River Niger Delta.
Footages showed on social media shows the vessel on fire with huge billows of smoke rising into the air.
Some 10 people have been reported dead from the incident, however, official statement by the government is yet to be made on the number of deaths recorded so far.

The Trinity Spirit vessel is said to have been built in 1976, it comes with a 274,774 Dead Weight and length of 337.05m and weight of 54.5m.
Environmentalists fear that Nigeria faces a huge environmental crisis in the medium to long term.
