GRIDCo to undertake load management in the interim over collapsed towers
Power transmission company, Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), has announced the possible load-management of electricity to some parts of the country, particularly areas within the Western Region.
The possible load management, the power company notes in a press release on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, is due to the collapse of its two transmission towers.
According to GRIDCo, a communication mast collapsed and fell on the 330kV Aboadze – Kumasi Transmission Line, resulting in the collapse of two adjacent towers.
This, the company asserts, may result in some load management (load-shedding) of electricity supply to the affected areas.
“GRIDCo is working around the clock to replace the fallen towers within the shortest possible time. GRIDCo is committed to maintaining a stable network for reliable and efficient power delivery. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” read parts of the press release.
At the moment, areas expected to experience the load shedding by GRIDCo are unknown, however, GRIDCo is also expected to soon come out with a list of the areas or towns to be affected by the load-shedding.
