GSE: MTN, EGL, GOIL, GCB and CAL Emerge the Five Top Traded Equities on Wednesday

GSE: MTN, EGL, GOIL, GCB and CAL Emerge the Five Top Traded Equities on Wednesday

MTN Ghana (MTNGH) led trading activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), with 36,840 shares changing hands at a value of GH¢80,311.20.

Among the other most actively traded stocks, Enterprise Group Limited (EGL) saw 31,688 shares traded for GH¢63,059.12, while GOIL, GCB, and CAL Bank recorded lower volumes of 11,833 shares at GH¢17,749.50, 7,842 shares at GH¢47,052.00, and 3,402 shares at GH¢952.56, respectively.

The GSE saw a notable increase in market capitalization, which surged by GH¢240.68 million to GH¢99.34 billion.

Despite this, overall trading activity was subdued, with the total volume of shares traded down 17.31% to 97,808 from the previous 118,288.

The value of shares traded similarly contracted, falling to GH¢236,575.59 from GH¢264,019.67. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) closed the day GH¢0.01 higher at GH¢0.18.

The GSE Composite Index gained 6.05 points to close at 4,375.49, pushing its Year-To-Date (YTD) return to 39.78%, up from 39.59%.

Meanwhile, the GSE Financial Stock Index advanced 8.51 points to 2,198.88, reflecting a YTD return of 15.63%.
