- GSE Turnover Doubles To GH¢16.33m on First Trading Day of July
Trading activity on the Ghana Stock Exchange opened July on a strong note, with total market turnover more than doubling to GH¢16.33 million on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The market recorded 5.62 million shares traded, compared with 2.17 million shares valued at GH¢7.94 million in the previous session. This represents a 105.70% increase in turnover, signalling stronger investor activity at the start of the new month.
The session was driven largely by MTN Ghana, Kasapreko PLC and Intravenous Infusions PLC, which together accounted for most of the day’s trading by value and volume.
Ordinary shares recorded 3.62 million shares valued at GH¢15.94 million, while NewGold ETF added GH¢12,936.00 from 28 units traded.
Activity on the Ghana Alternative Market was lifted by a large transaction in Intravenous Infusions PLC, which traded 2.00 million shares valued at GH¢380,000.00. The stock closed unchanged at GH¢0.18.
MTN Ghana remained the dominant counter on the main market, accounting for 1.99 million shares valued at GH¢12.57 million. The telecoms stock, however, closed lower, declining by GH¢0.10 to GH¢6.31 from its previous closing price of GH¢6.41.
MTN Ghana alone contributed approximately 76.98% of total market value traded, reinforcing its position as the most liquid counter on the exchange.
Kasapreko PLC followed with 996,243 shares valued at GH¢1.87 million, closing unchanged at GH¢1.88. Together, MTN Ghana and Kasapreko accounted for about 88.45% of total turnover.
CAL Bank also recorded notable activity, trading 532,119 shares worth GH¢418,622.94, but closed flat at GH¢0.78.
Clydestone Ghana was the only major gainer of the session, rising by GH¢0.15 to close at GH¢3.10 after trading 2,800 shares valued at GH¢8,600.00.
Republic Bank Ghana recorded the steepest decline, falling by GH¢0.39 to GH¢4.00 after 2,000 shares changed hands for GH¢8,000.00.
Other decliners included GOIL, which lost GH¢0.05 to close at GH¢7.45, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and Fan Milk PLC, which each declined by GH¢0.04 to close at GH¢2.23 and GH¢13.30, respectively.
Guinness Ghana Breweries also slipped by GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢11.98.
Several counters traded but closed unchanged, including Access Bank Ghana, CAL Bank, Ecobank Ghana, Enterprise Group, GCB Bank, Kasapreko PLC, SIC Insurance, Societe Generale Ghana, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana, Unilever Ghana and ZEN Petroleum Holdings PLC.
GCB Bank traded 2,593 shares valued at GH¢104,551.00 and closed unchanged at GH¢40.00, while Ecobank Ghana recorded 7,345 shares worth GH¢247,121.70, closing flat at GH¢33.67.
Enterprise Group traded 22,983 shares valued at GH¢230,979.15, maintaining its closing price of GH¢10.05.
At the close of trading, total market turnover stood at GH¢16.33 million, with market activity heavily concentrated in a few counters.
The first trading day of July therefore reflected stronger liquidity but mixed price performance, as increased activity in MTN Ghana and Kasapreko drove turnover higher while selling pressure weighed on selected counters.
