The official list for Trading Session 7280 shows that investors exchanged 1,621,771 shares across the market for a total traded value of GH¢10,378,057.62.
Ordinary shares accounted for 1,191,861 shares valued at GH¢10.08 million, while activity on the Ghana Alternative Market added substantially to overall share volume, led by Intravenous Infusions and Hords.
GCB Bank was the largest contributor to turnover, recording 109,926 shares worth GH¢4.29 million. The bank alone accounted for approximately 41.31% of the entire market’s traded value.
The stock ended the session at GH¢39.00, marginally below its previous closing price of GH¢39.04, representing a decline of about 0.10%.
MTN Ghana ranked second by traded value, with 324,776 shares changing hands for GH¢2.27 million, equivalent to about 21.90% of total market turnover.
The telecommunications company edged up from GH¢6.99 to GH¢7.00, representing an increase of approximately 0.14%.
TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana provided one of the strongest performances among the heavily traded counters.
The stock advanced from GH¢39.83 to GH¢42.00, a gain of 5.45%, after 43,939 shares traded for GH¢1.85 million. TotalEnergies therefore accounted for approximately 17.78% of the market’s total traded value.
Taken together, GCB, MTN Ghana and TotalEnergies generated about 81.00% of the day’s turnover, illustrating the high concentration of trading activity in a relatively small number of securities.
Unilever Ghana recorded one of the strongest percentage gains of the session, climbing from GH¢32.00 to GH¢35.20, an increase of 10.00%.
The move, however, came on relatively light activity of just 1,028 shares valued at GH¢34,940.80, demonstrating the distinction between a large percentage price movement and the depth of trading behind it.
Dannex Ayrton Starwin also advanced strongly, rising from GH¢1.16 to GH¢1.27, equivalent to a 9.48% increase. The pharmaceutical company recorded 201,500 shares traded for GH¢255,905.
On the Ghana Alternative Market, Hords rose from GH¢0.75 to GH¢0.82, gaining 9.33%, on 93,857 shares worth GH¢76,721.03.
Digicut Production & Advertising gained 5.88%, increasing from GH¢0.17 to GH¢0.18, while Societe Generale Ghana advanced from GH¢5.44 to GH¢5.60, representing a 2.94% increase.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated also ended higher, moving from GH¢1.82 to GH¢1.89, a gain of about 3.85%.
Enterprise Group was the biggest notable decliner among actively traded equities.
The stock fell from GH¢8.16 to GH¢7.39, representing a decline of approximately 9.44%, after 64,776 shares changed hands for GH¢481,976.72.
Benso Palm Plantation slipped from GH¢77.00 to GH¢76.00, a decline of 1.30%, on turnover of GH¢111,644.
Kasapreko declined from GH¢1.99 to GH¢1.97, equivalent to about 1.01%, while Clydestone eased from GH¢6.52 to GH¢6.50.
Several major stocks, including Ecobank Ghana, Access Bank Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana, Fan Milk, GOIL and ZEN Petroleum, ended unchanged.
Activity on the GAX was dominated by Intravenous Infusions, which recorded 331,629 shares worth GH¢220,128.63 but closed unchanged at GH¢0.65.
Hords followed with 93,857 shares, while Digicut recorded 4,320 shares. Meridian Marshalls traded just 102 shares.
NewGold recorded only two units traded at GH¢462.39 each, producing turnover of GH¢924.78.
The session therefore presented a mixed picture: sizeable turnover was concentrated in GCB, MTN Ghana and TotalEnergies, while some of the strongest percentage gains occurred in relatively less-liquid counters.
TotalEnergies’ rise to GH¢42.00 and Unilever’s 10.00% advance provided positive momentum among established companies, but Enterprise Group’s 9.44% decline offset some of those gains.
More broadly, the August 21 session reinforces an important characteristic of trading on the GSE: headline turnover can be driven disproportionately by a small number of securities.
With more than four-fifths of Friday’s traded value concentrated in just three stocks, the depth and breadth of participation across the wider market remain as important as the overall GH¢10.38 million turnover figure.
