Guinness Nigeria denies reports on relocation of headquarters to Ghana
Management of Guinness Nigeria Plc, has denied publications by some media outlets the relocation of its headquarters situated in Nigeria to Ghana.
Per the reports, the decision by the management of Guinness Nigeria Plc to relocate its head office to Ghana, is due to the “harsh economic and investment environment in Nigeria”.
Reacting to the publications in a statement, management of Guinness Nigeria Plc described as false, malicious and misleading the publication trending on the various social media platforms that the company is relocating out of Nigeria and is therefore planning to sell its Ikeja Brewery site.
“A bogus ‘sales brochure’ circulating online in various formats claims that the Ikeja site sale is part of an exit plan and this falsehood is being irresponsibly circulated by faceless persons purporting to be property agents,” said Guinness Nigeria in the statement.
According to Guinness Nigeria, it has no plans to exit the Nigerian market as it is strong, stable and delivering value to its esteemed Nigerian stakeholders.
“We notified our esteemed stakeholders of our stellar performance in which our 6 months operating performance for half year 2021 grew by 266% to N13.6 billion,” it said.
Adding that the malicious publication is not in tandem with its current expansion and investment drive, asserting that the company recently reaffirmed its long-term strategic expansion plans in Nigeria with the acquisition of an additional 25-acre commercial property in the Ogba industrial area in Lagos in the later part of 2021.
Guinness Nigeria is a subsidiary of Diageo Plc which is a multinational beverage alcohol company, with its headquarters in London, England.
It operates in more than 180 countries and produces in more than 140 sites around the world. It was the world’s largest distiller until it was overtaken by China’s Kweichow Moutai on 9 April 2017.
