GUTA kick against repeal of benchmark values by government
The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has expressed its resolve to vehemently kick against government’s reversal of the 50% and 30% benchmark value policy introduced in 2019.
According to GUTA, its decision to kick against the reversal of the benchmark policy is due to the fact that the conditions that necessitated the introduction of the policy are not only prevalent but have now also been exacerbated by the Covid pandemic which has caused global commodity prices to escalate by 100% with freight charges also catapulted to over 600%.
In a press release issued by the Association on Wednesday, the Union noted that the reversal of the benchmark policy wi not only be inimical to the growth of businesses but also spark intense protests
GUTA ‘attacking’ the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) in the press release noted, the AGI should stop driving a wedge between local manufacturers and other key players in the private sector asserting their attitude has the potential of putting to risk, the unity among the private sector players which will not be helpful to the overall developmental agenda of the government.
