FirstBank Ghana Women’s Network Inspires Future Leaders at OLA Girls Senior High School

The FirstBank Ghana Women’s Network hosted a transformative mentoring and goal-setting session at Ola Girls Senior High School in Ho, impacting over 500 students.

This initiative forms part of FirstBank’s commitment to empowering young women and nurturing leadership skills to prepare them to tackle future challenges and take on opportunities.

The event was designed not only to inspire but also to equip students with practical tools and insights that the students can apply in their academic and personal lives.

The atmosphere was energetic as students engaged in interactive discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities with accomplished professionals.

Victor Yaw Asante, Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “our commitment to empowering the youth is at the heart of what we do. Mentorship and goal setting are essential for personal and professional development. By investing in their potential, we uplift individual lives and contribute to the broader socio-economic development of our nation. I encourage young leaders to embrace every opportunity, learn from their mentors, and remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence.”

The presence of Mr. Asante, along with other key members of the FirstBank team, including Grace Isaac Aryee, Treasurer and Chairperson of FirstBank’s Women Network, Ida Appiah (Head, Credit Analysis & Processing), and Herbertha Quansah (Head, Financial Institutions), added a special touch to the day.

Naa Adokailey Amofa, FirstBank Ghana Head, Human Capital Management & Development, shared valuable insights on career planning and the importance of setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals.

She stated, “today, we have impacted over 500 bright young minds, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to navigate their future careers. It is crucial for these students to understand that setting clear goals is the first step towards achieving their dreams. I encourage each of you to dream big, back it up with actionable plans, and remain resilient in the face of challenges. Remember, every significant achievement begins with a single step, and we are here to support you on this journey.”

During the session, students participated in various workshops focused on leadership skills, financial literacy, and personal branding. They had the opportunity to hear from successful female leaders with different backgrounds who shared their experiences and the challenges they overcame to reach their current positions.

This exposure not only motivated the students but also helped them visualize the paths they could take in their own careers.

Jamila Isa Munkaila, FirstBank’s Area Head, Accra West, highlighted the importance of community engagement, saying, “programs like these are vital for bridging the gap between education and real-world experiences. We aim to inspire these young women to pursue their passion and lead with confidence.”

The event also featured interactive sessions where students asked questions and sought guidance from their mentors in real time. This direct interaction fostered a sense of belonging and encouragement among the students, reinforcing the idea that they are not alone on their journey.

As the event concluded, Mr. Asante reiterated the importance of investing in the personal and professional development of the youth to collectively create a brighter future for Ghana, urging everyone to work together to inspire and empower one another and leave a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

He also commended the Women’s Network and extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this initiative, emphasizing that their support brought smiles, encouragement, and practical help to many young girls, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
