The deployment of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) at the nation’s land and sea borders has put an end to the use of Cargo Tracking Notes (CTN).
The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in a publication in the Daily Graphic Newspaper on Friday, September 18, 2020 announced that CTNs will no longer be used in imports and exports and other Customs Regimes.
Cargo Tracking Notes or CTNs is a way of verifying the contents of every cargo and then tracking that cargo between various ports.
The ‘abolishment’ of CTNs in the imports and exports of goods is due to the deployment of the new trade facilitation system – ICUMS.
The Customs Division however, notes that “all other Customs requirements at the points of entry and exit remain the same.”
ICUMS is an all-in-one customs management solution specially tailored for the port needs of Ghana. It is a modern and world class technology acknowledged by international bodies such as the World Trade Organisation and the World Customs Organisations to facilitate trade, ensure end-to-end supply chain security and increase revenue.
