Trading Activity on Ghana Stock Exchange Sees Dramatic 1,937.50% Increase

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) Composite Index closed at 4,360.51 points, reflecting a positive trajectory with a Year-To-Date (YTD) return of 39.30%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index also experienced an uptick, rising to 2,206.71 points, marking a 16.05% increase YTD.

The overall market capitalization reached GH¢99.22 billion, up by GH¢30.15 million from the previous day.

Notably, trading activity surged dramatically, with the volume of shares traded jumping 1,937.50% to 435,027 shares, a significant increase from the prior day’s 21,351 shares.

However, the total value traded declined by 27.78%, amounting to GH¢1,725,338, down from GH¢2,389,033.

Among individual stocks, GLD and RBGH showed gains, rising to GH¢426.23 and GH¢0.66, respectively. Conversely, CAL experienced a decline, closing lower at GH¢0.26.

In terms of trading volume, CAL led the top five traded equities with 340,309 shares exchanged, valued at GH¢88,545.83.

Other notable equities included MTNGH, GOIL, RBGH, and GLD, although their trading volumes were considerably lower in comparison to CAL.
