Israel commits £70m to develop tourism infrastructure
A £70 million development budget has been confirmed by the Israel Ministry of Tourism to develop infrastructure across the sector this year.
A number of projects have been identified for funding assistance including wine tourism, cycle paths, developing tourism infrastructure and accommodation.
The ministry has invited local authorities and public bodies to submit requests “for assistance in establishing projects that will significantly contribute to incoming tourism and domestic tourism”.
A deadline of July 7 has been set for submissions.
The ministry said: “Determining standards for rating projects for developing public tourism infrastructure includes: contribution to incoming tourism, project maintenance ability, adjustment to government and ministry policy, contribution to the region’s economic development, presence of a tourist site or hotel accommodation near the project and contribution to domestic tourism.”
