Franklin Cudjoe Writes…
I have scanned dozens of Facebook posts of NPP leaning and NPP activists since yesterday, and I am wondering if you are all okay?. As for me, it is not in my nature to revel in someone else’s misfortune.
One big lesson for politicians: No matter how many millions of legitimate and illegitimate money and friends you have over another, remember that it is not a license to be complacent and abusive- especially when one’s critical feedback on decisions is always based on sound public policy enquiry with quantitative and qualitative insights, mostly at no cost to you.
We at lMANI knew the NPP was heading out as early as January 2022. We warned and advised against the high road to suicide street on December 7th, 2024. Both the driver and the mate were recklessly driving 🚗 and we gave up. They were ghosts long ago. The final funeral rites were performed on December 7th.
Well, in times of adversity, that little friend who tells you like it is, the one who has your back. You still need friends who matter even if you hate their irritating competent guts. I am offering none at the moment, and I’m not available. You can check back in 38 months.
Right now, l am mulling over the items below and l have asked the IMANI team to come up with strategies for execution without relying on the government’s poor public purse but seek creative ways to achieve a win for all including citizens.
The obvious areas are:
– formalising galamsey operators
– redesigning the cocoa value chain
– redesigning the LPG distribution network
– A new national fisheries policy on livelihoods, nutrition, and sustainability
– Off-grid renewable energy solutions for small-town industrialisation to support the 24-hour economy.
– Mapping the night economy in selected high-impact sectors and geographies to identify areas of leverage
Where government intervention can transform production capacity. (I.e. understanding whether there are already some economic contexts where working overnight is somehow very critical for success and figuring out how to boost production in such sectors.) One example here could be IT companies that serve Asia.
Research and policy innovation would be very crucial to understand and design measures to achieve any modicum of success if the 24-hour economy is going to bear any early fruits.
