AI Collective Launches First African Chapter in Ghana to Advance Inclusive AI Development

The AI Collective, a global strategic platform dedicated to democratizing access to artificial intelligence (AI), has launched its first African chapter in Ghana, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s global expansion strategy.

In a statement, the AI Collective noted that the Ghana Chapter will work not only to broaden access to AI technologies but also to promote their responsible, inclusive, and transformative application for social impact, economic development, and sustainability within Ghana and across the continent.

Commenting on the launch, Dr. Kwami Ahiabenu, Chapter Lead and member of The AI Collective Global Expansion Team, expressed optimism about the chapter’s potential to drive innovation and growth.

“We are incredibly excited to launch the AI Collective Ghana Chapter, the first in Africa, which will serve as a dynamic platform to collaboratively harness AI’s transformative potential, driving productivity, profitability, and sustainable growth in Ghana, while aligning with global efforts to shape AI toward trust, openness, and human flourishing,” he stated.

To mark the launch, the Ghana Chapter will host its inaugural event on Thursday, July 3, 2025, under the theme: AI for Ghana’s Public Sector – Driving Innovation & Efficiency, at Emerging Public Leaders Ghana in East Legon, Accra. The event will convene over 60 public sector leaders, technologists, policymakers, and development partners to explore how artificial intelligence can enhance public governance and service delivery. An interactive session will focus on leveraging AI to boost efficiency and innovation within Ghana’s public institutions.

Catherine McMillan, Founding Director of The AI Collective, emphasized the importance of inclusive AI development.
