KIA: New Covid protocols announced for international travelers; effective Dec. 12
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced new COVID-19 protocols to be observed at the Kotoka Internal Airport (KIA) by international travelers.
The new Covid protocols in addition to the existing ones, are in view of the rising cases of the Omicron variant recorded at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
According to a press release by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), 60 percent of all recorded case of the Omicron variant in the country, were detected at the airport, hence the review in the Covid protocols.
The new Covid protocols as directed by the GHS and to be implemented effective December 12 include:
Travelers to Ghana
- All persons 18 years and above arriving in Ghana will be required to provide evidence of full vaccination for a Covid-19 vaccine
- All unvaccinated Ghanaians and residents of Ghana who are currently outside the country and intend to return within 14 days from the midnight of December 12, 2021, ae exempted. However, they would be vaccinated on arrival at the airport.
Travelling out of Ghana
- All Ghanaians travelling out of the country are to be fully vaccinated effective midnight December 12, 2021
