The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has extended its congratulations to Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Ghana’s newly appointed Finance Minister.
The move underscores the pivotal role Dr. Adam is expected to play in steering Ghana’s economic course, following his assumption of office on Wednesday, February 14.
Kristalina Georgieva, the Managing Director of the IMF, conveyed her well-wishes to Dr. Adam, urging him to spearhead efforts aimed at restoring stability to Ghana’s economy.
In a statement resonating with assurance, Ms Georgieva emphasized the IMF’s unwavering commitment to fostering constructive engagement and providing support throughout Ghana’s reform journey.
“Your leadership will be essential in sustaining Ghana’s reform effort and in further extending the current momentum of compelling program performance and gradual economic stabilization. I would like to assure you of the International Monetary Fund’s continued commitment to support you in these endeavors,” read parts of the statement.
Dr. Adam’s ascendancy to the helm of Ghana’s Ministry of Finance marks a notable transition from his predecessor, Ken Ofori-Atta.
