La Liga: Real Madrid thrash Alaves to add another victory in dominant campaign
Real Madrid may have already won the La Liga title, but they are not letting up in their pursuit of 99 points. They took another step towards that on Tuesday, having blown away Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was a fast start for the home side, and they found the opener inside 10 minutes. Toni Kroos’ looped cross found Jude Bellingham, and he outrageously managed to lob the ball over Jesus Owono from an acute angle.
It was 2-0 before the half hour, as Vinicius Junior finished off a fine team move. Eduardo Camavinga’s cut-back found the Brazilian six yards out, and he made no mistake to double Real Madrid’s advantage. Just before half time, it become three when Federico Valverde rifled home from long range.
Real Madrid eased off in the second half, but they still found two more goals. Firstly, Vinicius Junior fired home after being played in behind by Bellingham, before Arda Guler scored another goal for his growing collection.
That result takes Real Madrid to 93 points, and they will be targeting two more victories against Villarreal and Real Betis in the final two matchdays, which would complete a very dominant La Liga season.
