Lionel Messi hits another milestone after goal against Uruguay
Argentine and PSG football star Lionel Messi, once again made history during yesterday’s clash with Uruguay.
Lionel Scaloni’s side ultimately ran out 3-0 winners, thanks to goals from Lionel Messi, Rodrigo de Paul and Lautaro Martinez.
With his goal in the first half, the former hitman now has 80 goals for the Albiceste and this makes him the first South American player to reach 80 goals in history, with Pele having previously been the record holder with 77 goals for Brazil.
Having made 155 appearances for his country with his latest outing, Messi could well be on his way to rack up even more goals in the coming years, and could soon become part of the illustrious 100 club, a record which only two players currently hold.
The win ensured Argentina sits comfortably at second place and continue to pile up pressure on group leaders Brazil after they drew 1-1 with Colombia.
