Mahama’s Transition Team Vows to Reverse Last-Minute Recruitments, Payments, Transfers and Promotions by Gov’t

The Transition Team of President-elect John Mahama has expressed grave concerns about last-minute recruitments, payments, transfers, promotions, and administrative decisions being undertaken by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

This follows an agreement reached during the second meeting of the joint Transition Team on Friday, December 13, 2024, stipulating that such actions would require clearance from the joint team.

Breach of Agreement

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 17, the Transition Team accused the outgoing government of violating the agreement by proceeding with these activities without consultation.

The team added that these actions demonstrate “bad faith” and undermine the smooth transition process.

The Transition Team has vowed to reverse all unauthorized actions once the new government assumes office.

“The Transition Team of the President-elect wishes to state emphatically, that given the bad faith displayed by the government, all these payments, recruitments, transfers, and promotions, some of which have been backdated, will be reversed,” the statement declared.

Additionally, public officials involved in these activities have been warned of potential accountability measures under the incoming administration.

The statement cautioned public officials to avoid pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in such activities, highlighting the “severe consequences” they could face for doing so.

The situation underscores growing tensions as the transition process progresses, with the incoming administration signaling its intent to uphold strict governance and accountability measures.
