Match-fixing: GFA decides on replacement for demoted AshantiGold in next season’s GPL
The Ghana Football Association has announced there will be a play-off between the three second-placed clubs in Division One League, with the winner taking AshantiGold’s place in the Ghana Premier League.
The Appeals Committee upheld the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to demote AshantiGold to Division Two League due to match-fixing earlier this week.
As a result, the Miners’ place in the top flight must be filled by another club, and the GFA has made their decision.
“The three 2nd placed clubs, Tamale City FC, Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC and Liberty Professionals will play in a three-way League to determine the replacement for AshantiGold SC in the Premier League,” the GFA announced on Sunday via their website.
“Tamale City FC, Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs FC and Liberty Professionals FC finished second in their respective Division One League Zones.”
“The three teams will engage in an all-play-all League format after which the winner makes it to the Premier League.”
“The fixtures will be as follows: Team A vs Team B, Team B vs Team C, Team C vs Team A.”
“A draw will be held for the teams to pick A, B or C to ensure fair parings.”
