Metropolitan Health Insurance picks two awards at 2nd edition of CIIG Insurance Excellence Awards

Health insurance firm, Metropolitan Health Insurance picked up two awards at the recently held Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) Insurance Excellence Awards.

Metropolitan Health Insurance on the night of the awards was adjudged the Private Health Insurance Company of the Year.

Its innovative Family Health Plus insurance product was also adjudged the Best Private Health Insurance Product of the Year.

The ‘Family Health Plus+’ comes in 3 variants; Olive, Silver and Maroon.

All 3 variants have comprehensive In-patient and Out-patient services that provide quality and hassle-free healthcare cover for clients.

Essential In-patient healthcare needs covered include; surgeries, organ transplants, renal dialysis, hospitalisation and ambulance services.

For Out-patient clients, healthcare needs covered include; medications, consultations, pathology and radiology, optical dental services and some benefits in response to Covid-19.

Individuals and families that subscribe to the ‘Olive’ category of the Family Health Plus+ enjoy Ghs 59,050 and Ghs 8,800 in In-patient and Out-patient benefits respectively.

In the case of the Silver category, clients stand to receive a total of Ghs 70,000 and Ghs 11,800 in In-patient and Out-patient benefits.

For the Maroon category, In-patient and Out-patient benefits total Ghs 101,250 and Ghs 14,700 respectively.

To be enrolled in any of the three categories, a monthly average of Ghs 600 has to be paid as premium through very flexible payment options such as Mobile Money (MoMo), cash, direct debit, cheque and paypoint.

Family Health Plus+ is open to all with no age limits and can be accessed from over 500 service provider network – mainly hospitals – spread across the country.

It also offers telemedicine and mobile pharmacy services enabling medical consulting, prescription and drugs delivery to clients in their homes. Refunds for payment of medical expenses by clients are also allowed where service is sought outside the service provider network.

Speaking at the Awards Ceremony themed ‘Celebrating excellence in Ghana’s insurance industry’, President of the CIIG, Tawiah Ben-Ahmed noted the CIIG Insurance Excellence Awards is to ensure that insurance practices and services in Ghana are of the highest possible standards and conform to internationally accepted best practices to drive sustained growth of the insurance industry to the benefit of clients.

“The awards scheme is to recognise the enormous contribution of deserving insurance professionals and companies, practitioners and partners who have contributed to the development of insurance profession in the country,” he added.

Also speaking at the event in a televised message was Commissioner of Insurance, Dr Justice Ofori, who appreciated CIIG’s efforts to promote professionalism, integrity and excellence in insurance practice especially in the changing dynamics of the sector.

The event held on Saturday, July 23, at the Labadi Beach hotel saw individuals and organisations that have excelled in the practice of insurance over the period recognised and awarded.

Other stakeholders such as journalists who have excelled in their reportage on insurance and sensitization of the masses were also recognised and awarded.

•             Professional underwriter of the year – Maa Korkor Nai, Hollard Ghana

•             Young insurance professional of the year – Justice Peprah Agyei, NIC

•             Insurance professional of the year – Victor Aggrey-Fynn, miLife Insurance

•. Insurance agent of the year – Daniel Appiah Agyei, Prime Insurance

Company Awards 2021

•             The life insurance company of the year – Enterprise Life Insurance

•. Private health insurance company of the year – Metropolitan Health Insurance Limited

•             The general insurance company of the year – Enterprise Insurance Limited

•             Insurance broker of the year, General Business – Olea M&G Insurance Limited

•             Insurance broker of the year, Life – KEK Reinsurance Limited

•             Reinsurance company of the year 2022 – Waica Reinsurance Plc

•        Reinsurance broker of the year – KEK Reinsurance Limited

•. Insurance media house of the year – Multimedia Group Limited

• Best company in employee development – Enterprise Life Insurance

• Corporate Social Responsibility company of the year – SIC Life Insurance

This year’s awards ceremony was supported by the National Insurance Commission (NIC), the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG), the Ghana Insurance College (GIC), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana (CILAG) as well as several other insurance companies and brokers.
