Milovan names final 28-man squad for AFCON 2021
Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac has named his squad for the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations – Cameroon 2021.
The Serbian trainer who named a 30-man provisional squad in December has pruned the squad to 28 having camped in Doha – Qatar since December 23, 2021.
Surprisingly, injured Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed, who is yet to report the team’s camp base in Qatar has been included after the player was seeing jetting off with the Ajax squad to Purtugal for a mid season camp.
A Ghana FA statement read: ”AS Roma youngster Felix Afena Gyan and Clermont Foot midfielder Salis Abdul Samed missed out on the final list for the tournament which kicks off on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Cameroon.”
The Black Stars will be making their 23rd appearance at the Cup of Nations and have won the championship on four occasions; 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982.
Ghana will play a friendly International against African Champions Algeria on Wednesday, January 05, 2022 at the Education City stadium in Doha to wrap up preparations ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars will begin their quest for a first AFCON trophy in 40 years when they take on Morocco next Monday.
