NewGold gains GHS 31 in share price; ends trading activity at GHS 237

Absa bank-backed exchange-traded fund (ETF), New Gold (GLD), recorded a share price increase of GHS 31.24 at the close of trading activity on Wednesday, October 19.

The stock ended trading activity with a share price of GHS 237 from the opening share price of GHS 206.54.

Market value of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on the back of the rise in share price of New Gold rose by GHS 90m to hit GHS 64.61bn.

On a year-to-date basis, the share price of New Gold has witnessed increments by some 118.97% since the beginning of the year.

Despite the increase in the share price of New Gold, the GSE-CI remained unchanged as it continued its three day streak of not recording any change.

The GSE-CI closed trading at 2,460.44 points representing a YTD return  of -11.79%.

The GSE-FSI also maintained its level to close at 2,068.16 points, translating into a YTD return of-3.89%. 

Meanwhile, a total of 58,007 shares were traded across nine (9) counters. These trades cumulated in a turnover of GH¢2,464,770.82.

Scancom PLC.  (MTNGH) emerged as the most traded stock at the close of trading, accounting for 39.25% of the total volume traded whilst NewGold (GLD) accounted for 97.54% of the total value traded.
