No sign of Christian Atsu despite reports of rescue
Ghanaian international football player Christian Atsu remains unaccounted for following the earthquake that struck Turkey earlier this week, according to Hatayspor team doctor Gurbey Kahveci.
Despite initial reports that the player had been rescued and taken to the hospital with injuries, Kahveci stated that both Atsu and the club’s sporting director, Taner Savut, have yet to be found.
Ghana’s ambassador to Turkey, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton, confirmed that efforts are being made to locate the player, but due to the ongoing rescue mission and transportation difficulties, it has not yet been determined which hospital he may have been taken to.
Ashietey-Odunton added that, aside from Atsu, all other Ghanaians affected by the disaster have been accounted for.
The situation has sparked concern among Ghanaians, including Atsu’s close friend and fellow Ghanaian international, Mubarak Wakaso, who has confirmed that the player is currently unaccounted for.
