Domestic carrier Passion Air, has attributed the forced landing of its Accra -Kumasi bound flight over the weekend in Abidjan to bad weather.
In a press release issued by PassionAir following the incident, the airline noted that it operates with the highest safety standards, conforming with strict, laid down regulations of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
“On 17 April 2021, PassionAir flight OP152 departed from Accra at 17:45 for Kumasi, unfortunately, due to deteriorating weather conditions at the destination airport, the flight could not land,” read the statement.
“Unable to land in Kumasi or return to Accra, a decision was made to proceed to the planned alternate airport, Felix Houphouet Boigny International Airport in Cote D’ Ivoire (Abidjan) where the weather permitted a safe landing,” it added.
According to the airline, passengers after the forced landing were refreshed and safely airlifted upon improvement in the weather condition.
