Leadership and Members of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MOMAG) have commended MTN Ghana for the introduction and implementation of the Identification (ID) Card by customers who patronise the services of Mobile Money Agents across the country.
Describing the decision by MTN as bold, MOMAG posits that the new directive which takes effect April 2, 2021, will serve as a protective measure for its members who have been victims of mobile money fraudsters on countless occasions.
While commending MTN Ghana, the association in a press release dated Tuesday. March 30, demanded that MTN be transparent in its dealings with mobile money agents and the association at large in all aspects of the mobile money business.
The group also demanded for an increment in commissions received by its members.
“It will be instructive to note that agents who perform a transaction worth Ghc 1,000.00 receive Ghc5.00 as commission, same as agents who perform GHC10, 000 at a time. We have waited for Mobile Money Limited to call us regarding this commission as we have written in previous letters but to no avail. We expect that they call us (Agents) to the table for a discussion and a review on this very low commission,” stated MOMAG in its press release.
