President Mahama’s son to headline Johns Hopkins Africa Business Conference in Washington D.C.

Sharaf Mahama, the founder of Legacy Rise Sports and son of Ghana’s current President, John Dramani Mahama, is set to make a significant impact at the Johns Hopkins Africa Business Conference in Washington D.C as one of the key panellists for a discussion on Media, Marketing & Entertainment.

A statement from Voice of Africa said “This influential conversation will bring together some of the continent’s most dynamic voices shaping Africa’s global narrative.”

Also on the panel with Sharaf are Kadmiel Van Der Puije, CEO of The Voice of Africa, whose work bridges media, trade, investment, tourism and diaspora engagement across Africa and the U.S; Banky W, renowned Nigerian musician, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and public figure, and Lee-Roy Chetty, Head of Digital Engagement at the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The panel will explore the intersections of influence, storytelling, and innovation — and how emerging leaders are leveraging media and entertainment to shape Africa’s future.

After the panel discussion, Sharaf will also deliver a solo presentation on the vision of Legacy Rise Sports, which is transforming Ghana’s athletic landscape.

Through Legacy Rise Sports, Sharaf is building a platform that equips young athletes with the tools they need to thrive — from elite training and mentorship to international exposure, brand development, and career guidance.

With sports fast becoming a key economic driver in Africa, Sharaf’s contribution to this dialogue brings a crucial perspective: how sports can empower communities, foster global partnerships, and elevate national pride.

The Voice of Africa’s Diaspora Connect Room: A Deeper Dive into Legacy Rise Sports

Following the mainstage panel, Sharaf will present at The Voice of Africa’s Diaspora Connect Room, an exclusive session within the conference designed to connect African entrepreneurs with global investors, policymakers, and development institutions.

Here, Sharaf will take a deeper dive into:

  • The mission and impact of Legacy Rise Sports
  • Investment opportunities in Ghana’s sports sector
  • How the African diaspora can be part of building the continent’s next generation of athletic leaders

Curated by The Voice of Africa, the Diaspora Connect Room is fast becoming a hub for serious conversations, strategic networking, and high-impact investments — and Sharaf’s participation adds even greater momentum to this growing platform.

From the Mainstage to the Movement

Sharaf Mahama’s presence at this year’s Africa Business Conference is more than symbolic — it’s strategic. He represents a rising generation of African leaders who are not just continuing legacies, but actively shaping the future. And through Legacy Rise Sports, he’s ensuring that Ghana’s youth are part of that future — strong, skilled, and ready to rise.
