Stock market slips to close at 2,461 points

Stock market indices dropped slightly as investors mull over BoG’s monetary policy rate hike to 24.50%.

The Ghana Stock Exchange’s Composite Index (GSE-CI) contract was down 0.19 points to close trading at 2,461.33 points representing a YTD return of -11.76%.

The  GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also slumped 0.34 points to  close at 2,069.76 points, translating into a YTD return of -3.81%.

One (1) counter recorded price movement in the southward  direction. SIC Insurance Company Ltd. (SIC) was the sole decliner shaving off GH¢0.01 off its price to close the session at GH¢0.32.

A total of 19,316 shares were traded across thirteen (13) counters. These trades cumulated in turnover of GH¢19,041.09.

Ecobank  Transnational Inc.(ETI) emerged the most traded stock at the close  of trading session, accounting for 43.77% of overall trade volume,  whilst Benso Palm Plantation PLC. (BOPP) accounted for 43.48 % of  the total value traded.
