Ronaldo named Premier League Player of the Month of September
After winning the Manchester United player of the month of September, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Premier League player of the month for September following his return to English football during after 13 years.
Ronaldo completed his transfer back to the Red Devils on transfer deadline day at the expense of a move to Manchester City and made his second debut for the club after the September international break in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.
The 36-year-old scored in first-half stoppage time against Newcastle at Old Trafford, before doubling his tally to restore his team’s lead just after the hour mark. A week later he went on to score again in an away win over West Ham.
It is the fifth time that Ronaldo has won the Premier League’s player of the month award in his career. He won four during his first spell at United and remains among only eight players ever to have won in consecutive months, doing so in November and December 2006.
Ronaldo beat off competition from Mohamed Salah, Allan Saint-Maximin, Antonio Rudiger, Joao Cancelo and Ismaila Sarr to claim the September prize.
