Transfers made by Ghana Premier League Clubs ahead of the 2021/2022 season
The Ghanaian football transfer window closed on Sunday October 10, 2021 and all 20 clubs brought in some new faces to augment their squad.
This piece is a comprehensive report of players signed by the Ghana Premier League clubs ahead of the start of the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season.
Asante Kotoko and Bibani Gold Stars made the most signings in the window with Dreams FC and WAFA SC doing the least with just 2 signings.
Accra Lions FC, making their debut in the top flight for the very first time made 11 new signings with Evans Eenee, Abass Samari Salifu, Fawzan Alhassan Dandawa, Richard Sackey, Alex Ketu, Kwadwo Junior Kyeremanteng, Shawkan Hunalf Mohammed, Frederick Akatuk, Daniel Awuni, Hagan Frimpong, Progress Uzondu Nwachukwu all joining the club.
Aduana Stars signed former Asante Kotoko duo; captain Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kwame Adom Frimpong, Divison 1 league star Welbeck Takyi, , Shaibu Iddrisu, Eric Kwakwa and Shadrack Mensah.
Asante Kotoko, the Porcupine made twelve new signings with youngsters dominating the crop. Clinton Opoku, Stephen Amankona, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Samuel Boateng, Isaac Oppong, Richard Boadu Agadass, Dickson Afoakwa, Augustine Agyapong, Sheriff Mohammed, Samuel Appiah, Joseph Amoako have all joined the Porcupine ahead of the new season.
AshantiGold SC, the miners signed Aminu Adams, John Josiah Andoh, Kennedy Ashia and Joseph Amoah
Bechem United resigned former playmaker Augustine Okrah, Paul Kwei Junior, Eric Bello, Ezekiel Tetteh, Obuoba Yaw Dasi, Samuel Akwasi Amoto, Francis Acquah, Emmanuel Avornyo, Samuel Osei Kuffour and Manuel Ankumah.
Berekum Chelsea boosted their squad with Zakaria Fuseini, Braimah Foster Ali, Nelson Ladzagla, Justice Anane, Benjamin Nana Yeboah, Enock Addo all joining the Berekum based club.
Bibiani Goldstars FC, also debutants of the Ghana Premier League made 12 new signings, joint highest with Asante Kotoko after Mahmud Oshie, Maxwell Ansah, Abdul Latif, Kofi Ansah, Lateef Abubakar, Frank Agyei Jnr, Michael Ainoo, Mohammed Polo, Charles Gyamfi Kamara, Samuel Amofa, Abubakar Aziz, Evans Owusu all signed for the pride of Bibiani.
Dreams FC could only dream as they signed just two players in Dana Blessing and Amadu Amadu.
Eleven Wonders, who escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth in the previous campaign recruited Abass Mohammed, Yaw Acheampong, Michael Yeboah, Isaac Kwain, Joseph Baah and Razak Issah.
Elmina Sharks, the only club to represent the people of the Central region also signed Kingsley Braye, Michelle Sarpong and Emmanuel Adjetey.

Great Olympics, the most vibrant club on social media last season have also added their squad after some notable departures. Gabriel Nudakpa, Solomon Adomako, Abdul Razak Yusif, George Asamoah, Frimpong Boateng, Iddrisu Murad, Sulley Ibrahim, Maxwell Owusu and Emmanuel Asante are the new recritments.
Hearts of Oak, the defending champions made some outstanding transfers with Olympics captain Gladson Awako, Enock Asubonteng, Salim Adams, Benjamin Yorke, Isaac Agyenim Boateng, Seidu Suraj, Kofi Kordzi, William Opoku Asiedu, Yaw Amankwah Baafi, Ushau Abu all putting pen to paper to join the Phobians.
Karela United, the Tarkwa based club are hoping to bounce back from what they termed as a disappointing season and thus have signed seven players in Emmanuel Owusu Boakye, Emmanuel Anaful, Matthew Kelvin Andoh, Ebenezer Ocran, Samuel Attah Kusi, Philip Flamini and Rashid Seidu.
King Faisal, another club that controversially escaped relegation last season have signed Kotoko duo Emmanuel Sarkodie and Godfred Asiamah on loan. Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, James Opoku Nyimfah,Gadafi Amadu Junior, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, Ibrahim Osman, Frank Boateng, Kwabena Kyeremanteng are the other men Alhaji Grusah has brought in to do the job.
Legon Cities, the most branded club in the league also signed ten players in Rashid Mohammed, Samuel Ayitey Okine, Nafiu Sulemana, Michel Otou, Nii Gyashie Acquaye Bortey, Eric Ofori Antwi, Mubarak Issah, Ali Hashim, William Essu and Hamzah Abdul Nassiru
Medeama SC after a disappointing season as they say signed ten new players in Patrick Kofi Ansu, Seth Sowah, Samadu Abdulai, Junior Alipio Ranious, Boris Junior Mandjui, John Moosie, Mathew Essiam, Kofi Asmah, King Archerson, Akesse Akesse and Benjamin Abaidoo.
Real Tamale United, the pride of the north are back after 8 years and have signed eleven new players in Mohammed Nurudeen Yussif, Effah Francis, Prince Attah Antwi, Ishmael Nketiah, Kwame Boakye, Osei Yaw, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Appiah Yaw Clinton, David Abagna Sanda, Mohammed Yakubu and Abdulai Hafiz to help the club return to their glory days.
West African Football Academy, runners up of the 2020/2021 league season signed just two players in Anthony Brebo and Razak Simpson.
The 2021/22 Ghana Premier League will kick off on the weekend of Friday, October 29 to Monday, November 1, 2021 across all the nine Premier League centres. This follows approval of the plan for the 2021-22 football season by the Executive Council.
