- Travellers to Face One-Month Disruption at Terminal 2 Frontage Road
The Ghana Airports Company Limited has announced a temporary partial closure of the road in front of the Departure Hall at Terminal 2 of the Kotoka International Airport to allow for ongoing construction and refitting works.
In a public notice issued by management, GACL said a section of the road at the Terminal 2 departure frontage will be closed from Monday, May 11, 2026, as part of works on the frontage and façade of the terminal. The company said the closure is expected to last for one month.
“As part of the ongoing construction works at Terminal 2, a section of the road in front of the Departure Hall will be temporarily closed from Monday, May 11, 2026,” the notice stated.
“This is to allow for safe refitting works on the frontage and façade of Terminal 2 and is expected to last for a month,” it added.
According to GACL, the affected road section will be inaccessible to both vehicles and pedestrians during the period of the closure. The company said directional signage and traffic management personnel will be deployed on-site to guide commuters and ensure smooth movement within the airport precinct.
“To minimise the disruption, directional signage and traffic management personnel will be on-site to guide commuters and ensure smooth movement,” management noted.
The temporary closure is expected to affect traffic flow around Terminal 2, particularly for passengers, airport users, transport operators and persons accessing the departure area.
GACL has therefore urged the travelling public to cooperate with traffic management personnel and follow directional signs while the works are ongoing.
Management expressed regret for any inconvenience the closure may cause, while assuring the public that the measure is necessary to ensure safety during the refitting works.
“GACL regrets any inconvenience and appreciates the cooperation of the travelling public as we carry out these works,” the notice said.
The road closure forms part of ongoing construction activity at Terminal 2, one of the key passenger-processing facilities at the Kotoka International Airport.
