Starting January 27 to March 1, 2021, flight travels through Belgium will be allowed for essential reasons only.
The disclosure is contained in an email sent to norvanreports by the Brussels Airport.
According to the email, essential reasons for which a traveller will be allowed to travel through Belgium include the following;
- Compelling family reasons, e.g. visiting a child or partner, attending a wedding or a funeral of close family
- Humanitarian reasons, eg for medical reasons, to help an elderly person
- Study purposes
- Residents of border areas
- Professional reasons
- Miscellaneous, eg to take care of an animal
The new directive by the airport comes on the back of rising cases of the Covid-19 virus in the country.
Belgium has so far recorded 699,662 cases with 20,933 deaths and 48,391 recoveries.
