US commits to partnering with Africa to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship

US Vice President Kamala Harris, has acknowledged the role that African ideas and innovations will play in shaping the future of the world.

Speaking at the Black Star Square in Accra on March 28, 2023, the Vice President noted that innovation is not just about doing things differently but also about solving problems more effectively.

She highlighted the creativity and ingenuity that is being unlocked across the diverse continent of Africa.

Her comments come at a time when the potential of the African continent is becoming increasingly apparent, particularly in fields such as technology, science, agriculture, and clean energy.

Indeed, innovation is already solving both local and global problems, and has the potential to unlock significant economic growth and opportunities not only for African countries, but for the world at large.

The Biden Harris administration has expressed a commitment to partnering with African countries to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship. This partnership approach is a positive step towards building more equal and sustainable collaborations.

According to Kamala Harris, the US is not interested in what it can do for its partners, but what it can do with its partners. This philosophy of collaboration is vital for unlocking the full potential of African innovation and creativity.

Speaking further, she noted that the US is keen on good governance which is a key driver of economic growth and development.

Good governance, which includes transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights, is crucial for creating an environment in which innovation and entrepreneurship can flourish. As such, it is encouraging to see the US placing such importance on these principles.

The recognition of African innovation and creativity by the US Vice President is a positive development. The African continent is increasingly seen as a hotbed of innovation, with significant potential for solving both local and global problems.

However, to fully unlock this potential, sustainable partnerships and good governance are essential. By working together, the US and African countries can create an environment in which innovation and entrepreneurship can thrive, leading to greater economic growth and opportunities for all.
