UCL: Barcelona, Liverpool Face Uphill Battles in Quarter-Final Second Legs
Two European heavyweights, Barcelona and Liverpool, must produce memorable comebacks on Tuesday night if they are to keep their UEFA Champions League dreams alive, as they head into decisive quarter-final second legs trailing Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
Barcelona seek remontada in Madrid
Barcelona travel to the Spanish capital needing to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Atletico Madrid at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Hansi Flick’s side were stunned at home, where they played much of the game with 10 men following Pau Cubarsi’s first-half red card.

Liverpool chase famous Anfield comeback
At Anfield, Liverpool must also overturn a 2-0 deficit against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain after a difficult first leg in Paris.
Arne Slot’s tactical gamble with a defensive setup did little to stop PSG, as Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia struck to hand the French side control of the tie.
Liverpool managed just 0.17 expected goals in the first leg and were fortunate not to lose by a heavier margin. However, a 2-0 deficit still offers hope—especially at Anfield, where the Reds have built a reputation for dramatic European comebacks.
They warmed up for the clash with a 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham, with teenager Rio Ngumoha becoming the club’s youngest-ever scorer at Anfield. Liverpool have now scored 15 goals across their last five home matches, highlighting their attacking threat.
PSG, under Luis Enrique, come into the game well-rested after their weekend fixture was postponed. The French champions are in strong form, winning five consecutive matches and boasting an impressive away record, including clean sheets in their last three on the road.
With no fresh injury concerns and key players like Ousmane Dembele and Kvaratskhelia in form, PSG appear well-placed to reach the semi-finals.
